Interim Management Accountant for a public sector client looking to work across multiple teams
Your new company
You will be working for a public sector organisation who are focused on ensuring a better , more prosperous local area, who oversee resources for Transport, Housing, Education and Digital services.
Your new role
You will be working across two teams, so reporting into the Head of Management Accounting, but also working closely with the Financial planning team. Your role is to work across a number of budget centres and pull together the consolidated management accounting information on a month basis. You will be working with large data sets for multiple teams, and be able to analyse the monthly accountants looking at variances and reporting in a management pack, the overall picture for the organisation. You will write the analyse in a succinct manner.
Duties
- Establish and maintain a strong financial control and reporting environment for month end, forecast and budget, whilst ensuring clear guidance is communicated to key stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Working with Project and Management Accountants/Accounting Technicians to provide accurate, fully reconciled, consolidated month end financial performance reports and commentary to management in line with strict deadlines and Financial Regulations.
- Co-ordinate the end to end quarterly forecast process as key point of contact for the wider Finance team, including escalation of any issues as necessary, and provide accurate consolidated proposals, reconciliations and commentary to management in line with the agreed timetable.
- Co-ordinate the budget process as key point of contact for the wider Finance team, including escalation of any issues as necessary, and undertake reconciliations, including the budgeted establishment, and various analysis. Provide accurate consolidated proposals and commentary to management in line with the agreed timetable and produce and publish the Budget Book.
- Support the Financial Planning team with the MTFP process through detailed review of inputs and consolidation of their overall position in line with agreed timetable. To include escalation of issues as necessary.
What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have worked as a management accountant in a fast paced setting, ideally be part qualified or fully qualified or QBE.
The ability to draw conclusions and write analysis
Strong communication skills as liaising with multiple teams for questions and queries.
