Are you an excellent Tax professional with a keen interest in the healthcare sector? Then we have an excellent opportunity for you to join our growing Healthcare Team and really make a difference.

The role offers promising progression opportunities as well as hybrid working and flexibility around hours.

Working closely with the relevant Director/Partner you will provide an outstanding tax service to our healthcare clients and have the opportunity to oversee a small team of tax return preparers.

The role can be based at either our Truro, Plymouth, or Exeter office. Here at PKF-Francis Clark we have a strong focus on work life balance and our teams are enjoying the opportunity to work at home in combination with some presence in our offices; we will also consider part time hours for this role.


In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for a manager portfolio of tax cases, GP practice partnerships and individual tax returns, predominantly for our GP clients.
  • Review tax returns prepared by other members of the healthcare team
  • Support the healthcare accounts managers with tax forecasts for provisions
  • Correspond and deal with client enquiries in relation to their tax issues and liabilities, ensuring any unresolved issues are referred to the appropriate Partner/Director including the handling / identification of tax planning opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to all compliance processes
  • Have the opportunity to develop a specialism in the NHS pension scheme and advise on the tax and superannuation issues and planning opportunities

Knowledge, skills, and attributes

  • Previous experience in a tax advisory or compliance role, ideally at Manager level
  • ATT qualified or equivalent, CTA qualified desirable
  • Excellent up to date technical knowledge
  • Commercially astute, with keen analytical and problem-solving mind
  • Organised and able to plan time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly with clients
  • Professional and discreet in demonstrating client care
  • The ability to travel to other offices or client meetings (this would be on an ad hoc basis if required)
