Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is seeking to appoint a qualified finance professional who will provide robust financial management and strong strategic leadership as the next Chief Finance Officer.

The role:

Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU), located in the heart of historic Lincoln in the East Midlands, is a small university that has a significant impact on the communities it serves in Greater Lincolnshire. To support our growth ambitions and ensure we continue to offer the best educational experience and opportunities to our students, we are seeking to appoint a Chief Finance Officer, who will contribute to the success of the institution as part of the University’s leadership team. With responsibility for the management of the University’s finances, the Chief Finance Officer will report to the Registrar and University Secretary and lead financial planning, control, and robust reporting to ensure the financial sustainability and health of the institution. The postholder will be a Director of BG Lincoln, the University’s subsidiary company, contributing to the management and direction of this commercial enterprise to ensure it is operating effectively and providing additional income generation for the institution.

This is a full-time, permanent role and will require the postholder to work on campus at least 3 days a week.

We have taken steps to balance budgets affected by localised and sector-wide challenges and we are seeking someone with the relevant qualifications, experience, professional credibility, presence, and knowledge to join us to support the delivery of a sustained plan for growth.  This will require robust financial management, strong leadership, commercial acumen and the ability to identify relevant opportunities for growth.

The postholder will lead, control and manage all aspects of financial management and maintain high standards across the University, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, risk management and audit, and pension arrangements. You will be expected to lead by example, providing visible and professional oversight of the professional services areas within your portfolio and adopt a creative, solution-based approach to problem-solving and strategic planning, ensuring the ethos and values of the University underpin leadership decisions at all times.
