Regional Finance Partner required for leading Surrey Multi-Academy Trust

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant required within the Education Sector

Client Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Partner to join a highly impressive Multi-Academy Trust. The role oversees 9 academies in their Central cluster in Surrey. Responsible to the Financial Controller, they require an individual who is a great team player, has excellent communication skills and has a flexible approach to work.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Heads of the schools within their Central cluster to ensure that resources are used as effectively as possible to provide the best possible education for children and young people.

Description

To provide financial leadership to Heads to ensure efficient use of resources and to drive school performance, achieving the best possible outcomes for our children and young people. To lead the regional finance team to support our schools and to deliver added value, fit for purpose financial reporting for operational and strategic decision making. To work closely with the FC and Trust finance team to develop an expert service and implement positive change.

Meet with heads & other functional teams termly to prepare & review budgets and strategic plans for each school

  • Lead the production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and 3 year budgets
  • Meet at least monthly with Heads to review management accounts for each school
  • Lead the analysis of monthly reporting information, including challenging variances to budget and understanding and communicating key trends
  • Support, guide and challenge budget holders and school leaders to ensure that budgets are prepared and monitored accurately and according to central guidelines.
  • Work closely and collaborate with the central and regional Teams to ensure compliance consistency and the development of best practice
  • To be responsible for the reconciliation of payroll
  • Drive forward positive change and initiatives (within Finance Teams and with schools) which promote regularity, propriety, value for money and best standards
  • To provide specialist Central support eg BPS/Funding/Report development/New school onboarding
  • Line manage the Regional Finance Team, ensuring skills and experience are commensurate with service to be delivered; that all staff are fully supported and that financial transactions are appropriately recorded

Profile

ACA/CIMA/ACCA Qualified Accountant

Experience of working in a rapidly changing environment as part of a multi-site organisation

Proven credibility to liaise with and advise senior management and other stakeholders

Extensive experience of school budget setting and monitoring

Ability to interpret financial information and present for non-accountants

Experience of working within the education or charity sector

Extensive knowledge of accounting regulation

Extensive knowledge of education finance and funding
