Newly created role - Financial Controller - Hereford - SME Manufacturing


Hays Senior Finance are currently exclusively partnering with a manufacturer specialising in the Luxury end of the market, producing top quality furniture & joinery in our modern facility. Their highly equipped 28,000 ft² workshop & office facilities are based 3 miles out of Hereford city centre and boast modern machinery & equipment in a clean and spacious environment.

Candidates will ideally be qualified with experience of working within an SME business. Human Resources experience would be of benefit as you well play your part in pushing forward the broader business. The successful applicant would work with the managing director.

The duties the role will entail are;

  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Create weekly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Supervise and manage the accounts manager by leading the department.
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely
  • Report to the managing director with timely and accurate financial information
  • Monitor credit control of customers & suppliers
  • Management of commercial insurances & renewals Involvement & monitoring of contract terms


The role will be office based in Hereford.

Candidates are expected to possess;

  • Ambition & enthusiasm of their job & the business.
  • Good communication skills, both oral & written.
  • Competent use of Excel, Word, Outlook, Sage
  • Able to offer advise and experience in Accountancy matters


We offer competitive pay with scope to grow within the position and business. Salary will be dependent on experience and subject to review after a 6-month probationary period.
