Our Reward and Employment team sits within our People and Organisation (P&O) network, as part of our wider Tax and Legal practice. P&O is built up of specialist teams who provide advice and support to manage organisational and people challenges, delivering tailored solutions to each of our clients. The role

This Manager role sits within our Southern Employment tax team which forms part of the Reward and Employment practice, one of the growth priorities for the firm and will be based in Reading or Southampton.

The team works at the forefront of the latest legislation and often on high profile projects, impacting well known brands and businesses. The Southern marketplace is vibrant and active, with a particular focus on Technology and Pharmaceutical industries. We have exposure to a variety of clients; listed, private businesses as well as the public sector, providing the opportunity to work across various UK teams.

The successful candidate will be part of a strong, experienced team, being mentored by Senior Managers across the Southern region, working in a cooperative and cohesive environment to seek advice, ask questions and obtain support to deliver excellence in the market and to our clients. 

We actively work to enhance efficiency, making use of technology wherever possible, may it be to reduce risk, manage large volumes of data or to standardise processes. The candidate would be part of an open and exploratory team who are keen to discuss improvements and ways which technology could be used to improve the way we work.

  • We have a strong and growing pipeline of work and require a Manager to help further build our pipeline, deliver projects and enhance PwC’s presence and success in the market.

  • The role will focus on delivering and advising on employer taxation compliance and tax authority review preparation. Additionally, the team assists with validating client internal processes to control risks and costs, and helps facilitate remediation and negotiations with tax authorities.

  • Work with the team to assist in the development of its market leading position in the Southern team 

  • Work with our clients and targets to take advantage of the market opportunity from increased levels of HMRC scrutiny around employment taxes and pay governance, along with ensuring speed to market for topical issues such as new legislation.

  • Develop and market new propositions to ensure the pipeline of projects remains healthy.

  • Create a strong and well maintained internal network across PwC colleagues in Tax, Assurance, Deals, Forensics etc to help build pipeline and long term opportunities. 

  • Work collaboratively within a team.

  • Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors.

Essential skills and experience

  • Keen to build networks internally and externally and be a driven self-starter to take on projects and manage them through from relationships, proposal, engagement, delegation and delivery through to closure and continuing the relationships.

  • Have a good knowledge of employment based tax legislation.

  • Either hold or be working towards a recognised tax qualification (ICAEW ACA, ATT, CTA) and be committed to a career in taxation.

  • Work with the wider team in the delivery of client assignments and the candidate will need to be comfortable with having open discussions with clients and internal colleagues and be able to be trusted to lead and manage engagements on a day to day basis. 

  • Be willing to work as part of a team and be dedicated to the delivery of high-quality client service.

  • Be seeking to maintain or enhance their knowledge of employment taxes and the broader governance issues.

  • Be agile and willing to develop experience and knowledge in the broader areas of Reward and Employment.
