Who we are looking for
We are currently looking for a Manager to join our Financial Services Regulatory Insights (FSRI) team.
The role will provide an opportunity to develop your technical knowledge across a range of topics and your wider industry knowledge, to support a broad range of clients across the banking and investment firms’ markets. It offers a unique mix of client work, market profile activities, regulatory engagement and proposition incubation and would provide a valuable cycle of experience for anyone looking to progress in the firm.
Who we are
FSRI acts as the ‘engine room’ of our FS risk and regulatory practice, supporting client teams in areas of risk and regulatory expertise, often acting as deep subject matter specialists.
We track new developments that will affect our clients, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders including regulators in the UK, EU and supranationally. We focus on emerging trends in risk and regulation, seeking to develop early points of view and thought leadership. We take a forward-looking view to new risk and regulatory issues, develop a deep understanding of the potential implications and use these insights to engage with clients and our client teams.
Through these activities we develop the relationships, knowledge and skills to help clients with the important challenges they face. We work with a broad range of teams XLoS to support our clients, bringing a deep understanding of clients’ business and operational models, as well as the wider issues affecting their businesses and the industry.
Our team includes experts who cover asset and wealth management, banking and capital markets and insurance. The team includes risk, regulatory, legal and compliance professionals from a wide range of backgrounds including people from industry, auditors, lawyers, economists, industry bodies and policy makers and regulators.

The FSRI team has a key role to play in ensuring that PwC is known in the market as the best in class risk and regulatory practice, in interacting with players in the UK, EU and global financial services industry and in supporting the services we offer to our clients.
Supporting clients and client delivery teams with industry and technical expertise on prudential matters for banks and investment firms
Occasionally acting as subject matter expert on engagements
Undertaking horizon scanning activities and identifying potential new opportunities for the firm
Contributing to the work of FSRI focusing on new regulatory developments, wider themes and regulators’ policymaking, supervisory and enforcement activities
Producing written analysis and information including internal briefings, client publications, marketing materials, website content, press releases, etc.
Conducting technical research, training, speaking at client events, responding to consultation papers from relevant regulatory bodies etc.
Providing input to the debate on development and application of policy, participating in developing Thought Leadership
Engaging with regulators and policy makers on areas of expertise, and supporting the activity of FSRI’s wider regulatory relations team.
The ideal candidate would have demonstrable experience in banking prudential regulation, with particular focus on CRR/ CRD IV, CRR II/ CRD V and Basel IV, EBA standards and the PRA’s approach to prudential supervision. The candidate should be able to identify how risk and regulatory challenges will impact clients, as well as an awareness of the wider issues affecting this sector. Previous regulatory experience, including an understanding of policy making and supervisory priorities is key.
The following skills are required for this role:
Deep technical grounding in banking prudential issues, especially capital and/or liquidity related, with expertise in risk weighted capital requirements, leverage ratio, LCR, NSFR and related areas such as TLAC included in Basel/CRD and EBA standards
Knowledge of the banking sector, including the typical business and operational models of clients in this sector
Broad knowledge of UK and EU regulatory and supervisory structure, the regulatory development process for financial services and the current EU regulatory agenda
Experience of advising on PRA principles, rules and regulatory processes
Excellent technical, delivery and communication skills including using social media and other technology
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to make new contacts, build strong relationships with clients and regulators, listen to and understand client needs
Desire and ability to interpret regulatory changes into new opportunities to assist clients, drawing on wider geopolitical, technological and demographic issues.
Experience working with a UK or equivalent overseas regulator.
Knowledge of the investment firms’ sector is a plus.
